Our Roots
Perch Customs brings together a foundation in architecture and design with decades of hands-on building experience to deliver a higher standard of general contracting.
Shaped by years of outdoor exploration and leadership in demanding landscapes, our work is deeply connected to place—how land, light, climate, and daily life intersect.
This perspective allows us to lead construction with clarity and care, collaborating seamlessly with design teams and building homes that feel grounded, intentional, and well-suited to life in White Salmon, WA and the Columbia River Gorge.
Adam Elliott
Founder, Lead Designer & Builder
Adam Elliott is a designer and builder whose work is shaped by a lifelong commitment to craft, sustainability, and the landscapes that influence how we live. With formal training in architecture and design, Adam has built a career focused on creating spaces that are practical, durable, and deeply intentional.
His early work centered on sustainable community buildings and housing, informed by eastern design principles and aesthetics. That foundation deepened during nearly two years of immersive study in China, where Adam explored Chinese approaches to architecture and landscape while also managing operations for Last Descents River Expeditions.
After earning his architecture degree from the University of Oregon, Adam refined his skills working with Rafael Viñoly Architects in New York City, contributing to design development, drafting, and client collaboration on international projects. His connection to building, however, began much earlier—working seasonally in construction since 2007—grounding his architectural training in hands-on experience.
Before co-founding Perch Customs, Adam co-designed and built luxury campers with Bahn Campers, where sustainability and thoughtful design were embedded into every detail. That work sharpened his ability to translate design ideas into high-performing, real-world construction—balancing efficiency, comfort, and longevity.
Today, through Perch Customs in White Salmon, Washington, Adam brings his architectural foundation into general contracting and design + build work across the Columbia River Gorge. His approach is rooted in the belief that construction is strongest when it’s guided by design understanding—resulting in clearer communication, better decisions, and homes that reflect the original intent.
